Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between Follow and Post mode?
Follow opens your profile so the scanner can hit Follow. Post opens a compose box with your pre-written tweet and hashtags — the scanner just has to press send. Useful for live events, conferences, or any situation where you want people to amplify a specific message.
Does the user need to be logged in?
Yes. The Twitter/X app requires a login to follow or post. If they're already logged in on their phone, it's immediate. If not, they'll be prompted to sign in first.
Can I change the tweet text after printing?
No. Static code. If you need to update the message — change a hashtag, correct a typo — generate a new code and swap it out.
Do I need to add # to the hashtags?
No. Type the words separated by commas. We strip any # you include and reformat correctly. What you type in the field is what gets used — the preview shows the final output.
Will this work with the X app after the rebrand?
Yes. The URL structures and app behaviour are unchanged. Whether the user has the old Twitter app or the newer X app, the links work identically.
What's the character limit and why?
240 characters on the tweet text field. Two reasons: that's Twitter's own post limit, and longer text creates a denser QR pattern that's harder to scan at small sizes. If you need to say more, link to a page instead.
Can I see how many people posted using my tweet?
Not directly — static codes have no tracking. But if you include a unique hashtag, you can search for it on Twitter/X to see who used it. Twitter's own analytics also show hashtag performance if you're posting from your own account.
Is the username stored by QR Code Zebra?
No. Generated in your browser, never sent anywhere. Standard for everything on this site.
