Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find my Telegram username?
Open Telegram → Settings → your name at the top. Your username is listed there (it starts with @). If you haven't set one, go to Edit Profile and add one. Then paste it here without the @.
Can I use this for a private group?
Yes — use Group Invite mode. Go to your group settings in Telegram, find the invite link (it looks like t.me/joinchat/... or t.me/+...), and paste it here. Anyone who scans will land directly on the join page.
Is this safer than sharing my phone number?
Much safer. Your username and invite links don't expose your phone number at all. It's how most people on Telegram prefer to be found — particularly for business or public communities.
Will the QR code expire?
The code itself never expires — it's static. But if you change your Telegram username or a group admin deactivates the invite link, the destination disappears and the code stops working. Keep that in mind before printing.
Does this work for channels?
Yes. Use Profile / Channel mode and enter the channel's public username. Scanners land on the channel view and can join directly. Great for growing an audience from printed materials.
Does this send any data to Telegram?
No. We format the link in your browser — nothing is sent to Telegram's servers during generation. The code is a plain link that the Telegram app interprets when scanned.
What happens if someone scans without the Telegram app?
The link opens in their browser. Telegram provides a web preview with a button to open in the app or download it. It's a smooth handoff — they don't hit a dead end.
Can I track how many people joined through the code?
QR Code Zebra has no tracking. But Telegram itself can help — if you create a specific invite link for this QR code (rather than reusing a general one), Telegram shows join stats for that link in your group settings.
